I’m still trying to figure out why Ohlins designed the adjustable rebound damping to be above the end eye. It feels a bit awkward, but it’s not a major issue for me. Overall, I’m really pleased with how well this Ohlins STX 36 Twin Shock Absorber YA740 works on my Yamaha XMAX 250.

What a game-changer! The Ohlins STX 36 Twin Shock Absorber YA740 has transformed my ride into a whole new experience. The single tube design and monotube high pressure gas type of shock absorber make it incredibly reliable and durable. I’ve tried other suspension upgrades before, but this one is hands-down the best.

I’ve been wondering… does anyone know if this Ohlins STX 36 Twin Shock Absorber YA740 is compatible with other vehicles aside from Yamaha XMAX 250/300? Would love to get an upgrade for my other bike, too!
Dee Lee –
Hi Natalie, thanks for reaching out! According to the product description, the Ohlins STX 36 Twin Shock Absorber YA740 is specifically designed for Yamaha XMAX 250 and 300. However, it’s possible that the shock absorber might be compatible with other vehicles as well, but we’d need more information about the bike you’re interested in upgrading to confirm compatibility. If you could provide more details about your other bike, such as its make and model, I’d be happy to try and help you out!
Sophia Lee –
Can someone explain to me why Ohlins doesn’t offer a longer stroke option for this shock absorber? It feels like it would be really useful, especially on the XMAX 300. Maybe they’re working on it?
Dee Lee –
